October 2023 - Community Helpers, Fire Safety, Fall Harvest & Halloween

Fire Safety & Community Helpers

October is all about Fire Safety and Community Helpers. The preschoolers dressed up as firefighters and the big play room turned into a fire hall. We went on a field trip to the UMD firehall and saw where real firefighters work, sleep and keep their equipment. They showed us their new truck and all the gear that they put on. We even had a chance to go inside their firetruck. It was a memorable experience! They learned “get out quick get out”, “stay very low and go”, and “stay out don’t go back”. We talked about fire drills at school and how to make a plan with your family to have fire drills at your house.

Fall

Colorful leaves, cool crisp air, and pumpkins everywhere. The preschoolers talked about fall and harvest this month. We played outside in the leaves. We scooped out pumpkins and carved jack-o-lanterns. We enjoyed seeing our trees change from green to yellow, orange, red and brown.

Halloween Party

We enjoyed seeing all of our families dressed up for Halloween! The preschoolers wore costumes to school and played in a witch house making potions. We practiced trick- or-treating and we are super thankful for our neighbors that participated. After school we had a party with games, treats, and halloween music.
